Canadian-born O’reilly tours the world, documenting mankind in different countries, principally in the Third World.

His photographs for the Reuters news agency and the world press have gone beyond the confines of journalistic reporting, exhibiting a gift for abstraction and artistic qualities.

In the photograph on display, the blurred figures moving around between sacks of flour are testimony to the insignificance of man as he is obliterated in the grain store in Thahog, Nigeria. The humanitarian aid sent by First World countries to the starving citizens of the lands of the African continent, is the cynical support offering a sop to the conscience, while abandoning an entire continent to a state of economic dependency whose outcome is predictable.
